Experiencing the Architecture of Flockton: Walk 1 - Glossop Road to the City Centre

Flockton's were a series of architectural practices that were based in Sheffield in the 19th and 20th centuries. The firms were responsible for a number of significant buildings in the Sheffield area, many of which are still in use and some subject to recent refurbishment/alteration.
In 2015, Sheffield Society of Architects (SSA), a branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), purchased an archive of Flockton's drawings and, following archival work, have put together walking tours which take in key buildings by Flockton.

As part of Heritage Open Days, SSA developed a guided walk starting from King Edward VII School and finishing at The Head of Steam, passing some of the city’s key buildings en-route. Led by Sarah Foxwell, the tour hoped to inspire discussion and further interest in the city, its rich architectural heritage, and particularly Flockton.
